The tens of metres of fossiliferous strata which emerge in the Turati Alps make this locality a unique biostratigraphic archive over a large area, occupied during the Jurassic Age by the Tethys Sea, which includes Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The following may be seen, starting from the base: Morbio limestone, red Lombardy ammonitic stone and radiolarites of Lombardy flint.
From Albavilla follow the signs to l’Alpe del Vicerè. Along the road, just before l’Alpe, park at the former Albergo La Salute on the right. From there follow the path which crosses the plateau to the east.
After about 150 metres along the path, at the head of a watershed, go down along the stream on the righthand side.
