Erratic boulders: silent witnesses of the past

The Negher Boulder is made of serpentinite, a typical metamorphic rock belonging to the group of “green schist”, and originating as a result of the transformation, under conditions of temperature and pressure, of pre-existing magmatic rock (gabbro and peridotite).
Take the Milan motorway to Lecco (number 36), and take the exit called “Civate-Oggiono”, then proceed towards Civate-Valmadrera. Turn left at the roundabout and then turn right into the road linking Civate and Valmadrera. At the stop sign turn left (Via alla Santa) and continue on Via Privata Valsecchi, Via Bellinghera and Via Baselone. Pass through the industrial zone on Via Praa Trebbia and proceed uphill, turning right, where you can park.
